Memorial Day Weekend in Destin

We went to visit Uncle Ian and his family in Crestview near Destin, Florida. One of the first things we did was take the kids to play in the fountains at a nearby park. Ethan was quite bold and liked walking right up to the water and sticking his little finger in it, sometimes getting hit smack dab in the middle of his face! Aunt Lauren, who came with us from Augusta, challenged the boys to a friendly game of water wars, while Abi was content petting a cute little chihauhau. They also went swinging, sliding, and climbing at the playground.

What a WATER-ful day!

Last September, Ethan did not like being in the ocean at all. This time around, he couldn't get enough of the sand and surf. He was a total beach baby! We spent the day enjoying the cool ocean water, digging around in the sand, and sunbathing. Abi serenaded us, quietly singing Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star in that sweet little voice of hers. After leaving the beach, we went for a meal at Johnny Rockets in the Commons. Ethan fell fast asleep, completely exhausted from his day at the beach!

At the Beach

We also spent time enjoying some attractions at Destin Commons, where Ethan splashed around in the fountains and rode the train. Asher and Eli also had fun climbing Spider Mountain and playing in the Bubble Balls.

Our trip was filled with memorable moments. We engaged in games like Battle Ball and Animal Charades. The charades were quite amusing! Sean was a wasp, Aunt Amy an alligator, and Aunt Lauren did her best impression of an opossum. Michele took turns being a butterfly, a roly poly, and a camel. Asher was a meerkat amongst other things, while Eli was pretty much always Darth Vader. Yes, good times. The only downside to our visit was that it was not nearly long enough!
