Of majestic mountains, oceans and streams,
Prairies and plains and wooded land,
Then paused and thought "I need someone to stand
On top of mountains, to conquer the seas,
Explore the plains and climb the trees.
Someone to start out small and to grow,
Sturdy, strong as a tree…" And so,
He created boys, full of spirit and fun,
To explore and conquer, to romp and run.
With dirty faces and banged up chins,
With courageous hearts and boyish grins.
When He had completed the task He'd begun
He surely said "A job well done".
Ethan has been a busy little bee! This past month has been filled with:
* EXCITING MILESTONES - Ethan started sleeping 8-10 hours a night over Mother's Day weekend (the perfect gift)! He has also begun to recognize family and friends, even their voice over the telephone, responding with gurgles and coos. Ethan stayed with a babysitter for the first time. I know this isn't technically a milestone, BUT... for a stay-at-home mom such as myself, it was a notable experience.
* SPECIAL OCCASIONS - We've celebrated everything from Ethan's Baby Dedication to birthdays, Sean and I's wedding anniversary, Mother's Day, and graduation.
* VISITS WITH FAMILY - We took our first road trip to Birmingham to see Cousin Caleb and Uncle Bryan. Ethan has started spending time away from Mommy and Daddy. He's made several visits to Nama's house, and recently spent the evening with Mimi, Papa Charlie, Aunt Lauren and Aunt Melissa.
Ethan’s budding personality has made the past month especially fun! He is not at all shy about expressing his needs and preferences. He’ll smile and giggle spontaneously while you sing to him or play with him, but he’ll also not hesitate to let out a wail when he is ready for a bottle or whimper restlessly when he’s due for a nap. There is such joy in watching his reaction to different discoveries… whether it’s sucking his hand or interacting with a new toy or splashing around in the tub... those moments are absolutely priceless and unforgettable.
Given the busy-ness of May, it's nice to reflect on all that's happened... to relive those experiences through the sharing of photos and video... and, most of all, to give glory and praise to God for his goodness and faithfulness!
Love in Christ,
Michele & Sean
