Ethan & Friends 2nd Birthday Party

A TWO YEAR OLD

A two year old is so many things.
A tiny discoverer of butterfly wings.
A hugger of teddies, a sweet sleepy head.
And someone to dream for in bright years ahead.
A special new person who right from the start,
has a place in the family and a course in your heart.
And just when you think you've learned all the things,
that your dear son is, and the joy that he brings,
a hug or a grin comes with such a sweet surprise,
that love finds you smiling with tears in your eyes.

For Ethan's second birthday party, we chose a train theme with a logo and colors similar to Ethan's favorite, Thomas the Tank Engine. The inspiration primarily came from another party featured on the Hostess with the Mostess. We had many custom items made especially for Ethan's party, like the sugar cookies, fondant toppers, and party decorations. Ethan's birthday shirt, with a matching train logo, was made by Auntie Katie. The guests were served plenty of sweets and treats from the dessert buffet, which had everything from cupcakes to gummy bears (Ethan's favorite). Each of the kids received a gift bag containing lollipops, a train whistle, and personalized ETHAN & FRIENDS bubbles. They also got treat bags to fill up and take home with them. We are indebted to the wonderful team of people who arrived at 8:00 a.m. on a Saturday morning to help set everything up! Special thanks to Uncle Brandon, Uncle Bryan, Auntie Katie, Aunt Lauren, Nama, and Uncle Richie for making Ethan's party such a memorable event.

Upon request, Richie created a fantastic photo prop that we named the ETHAN EXPRESS. (I got the wonderful idea from The TomKat Studio's blog.) Guests took turns taking pictures with the train, which featured a bubble producing smokestack. Bubbles make Ethan absolutely giddy with laughter!

We also celebrated another special birthday! We presented Pops with a small cake and sang Happy Birthday to him. The weather was absolutely beautiful, which allowed for lots of outdoor fun running, swinging, and teeter tottering. Ethan and his friends had a blast, and we are so grateful to God for working everything together for good.
